laptop grant and financial aid

<p>I'm an OOS student in Florida...</p>

<p>I got a letter about the full laptop grant for CCI in the mail.
Is that a good indicator that I'll get enough in aid to at least cover tuition?</p>

<p>Also, I called the financial aid office and they told me they would for sure be done with financial aid by May 1....which is pretty useless because money is the deciding factor for me and my other school wants a housing deposit by April 13th ><
It seems like there's a lot of people waiting for aid status now...and all I was told was it was first come, first serve basis. Has anyone else been told any dates?</p>

<p>According to the CCI website:
Some students will qualify for a laptop grant who do not qualify for regular forms of financial aid. </p>

<p>So sorry, but there’s no way to know at this point.</p>

<p>When I called they said at the earliest this week, at the latest next week :(</p>

<p>Mhm, I don’t think it’s first come first serve because I haven’t heard back either and I applied for Fin Aid way back in January (I did EA). I’m trying to look at it in a positive way- I think some scholarships/good aid packages are still being decided on, meaning they are probably considering certain applications more closely instead of just saying “oh, we’ll just give you this much and you can pay for the rest”… at least, I hope so!</p>

<p>I got a laptop grant but no other financial aid from UNC (though I wasn’t really expecting any), so I wouldn’t make any assumptions from it.</p>

<p>If you visit the Financial Aid Office and explain your situation, they’ll probably be able to calculate it out for you right then.</p>
