Laptop in class

What's Temple's policy on using your laptop in class? Is that generally permitted? I'd rather use OneNote and read documents on my laptop and carry as few books as possible.

My D takes hers to class to take notes.

You’re allowed to use a laptop in class unless the instructor explicitly disallows. I’m a junior and I can tell you that, although most students have laptops, almost no one brings them to class. In large science lectures of 250-300 students only four or five have them. Hell, I’m a Computer Science major and even in our classes no one uses a laptop.

Yeah, almost no one brings theirs to class. I might’ve like twice in two years.

My D bought a portable hard drive, I think like 500G (around $100), and the size of a large pack of cards. It carries everything and attaches to the computers in the tech center.

Not sure of Temple’s policy, but you should definitely push to have laptop accepted… gather students support and push for it… :)
