Laptop Lock?

How necessary are laptop locks? I have heard that people can just break into them anyway with a hairpin and some time...so I don't know if I should get one.

Well, they will deter the casual theif. Basically, there's little you can do conveniently which will stop someone who really wants to get your computer. I'm bringing one because they're not that expensive and make it more difficult for it to fall into someone's bag.

Don't the fingerprint readers work nice? I have not bought a laptop, yet. So for security, should I buy one with it?

Yeah I agree - a lot of people may not want to bother with having to pick locks no matter hpow easy it may be - it just takes too much effort.

Protection by deterrance really.

Well, I think they're a good investment. If you're really concerned about people taking it (of which I have heard few occurrances), you can always lock it to a chair in a more public, open area of the library where people will see the thief.

Yea but do I really want to carry that around...hmm

They're not that big. It's just a cable loop.
