As a future pre-med student, obviously I'll be going off to college. Most of my time will be spent doing word processing, surfing the web, sending e-mails, burning CDs and DVDs, and maybe making powerpoint presentations. (Not much gaming or video editing) I'm in need of a good laptop that's decently priced. Do you have any suggestions? (Sorry to all you mac lovers, I prefer PC).

umm i don't know what do you mean by "decent" price?? i thought around 1000 dollars..my bet would be Lenovo Thinkpads..check their website out.. Sony Vaios are good, but they gonna be more expensive than the Thinkpads..

Lenovo Thinkpads are popular here at my medical school. They run quietly, balance weight with durability, and are supposedly very reliable. I've only had mine for 2 months, so I can't provide any anecdotes about reliability just yet, but I can definitely verify the first two.
