Laptop sleeve

So I've decided I want to get a laptop sleeve and just use that in a regular backpack. So what does everyone recommend for a sleeve, and more importantly, where do you find them? Can they be found in office supply stores or do I need to order one online?

I was thinking about that too, as I would also like to use my regular backpack.

I remember seeing them in Best Buy years ago, but when I checked last week they didn't stock them.

However, I did run a search on Amazon for "Laptop Sleeve" and they have several in different sizes, all between $14-30. I'm sure those should be good enough.

booq vyper sleeves are awesome. they protect well, aren't too bulky, and look awesome. however, they are a bit overpriced--but you pay for what you get!

i just got my booq sleeve today, and it's great. i haven't tried it out on my laptop yet since the computer hasn't arrived, but i'm very satisfied with the sleeve.

http://www.booqbags.com/index.html

Geez, those booqs look awesome, but unfortunately they don't fit my budget :(

I've decided to buy the CaseLogic NCLE2. Certainly not as impressive as a booq, but it'll do for my $$$

The booq ones are definitely out of my pricerange, but thank you for the suggestion. I did the amazon search and definitely liked the look of the case logic one. Have just found out too that the LL Bean outlet near here carries them so I may have to look at those too.

My son just got the Vyper from Booq and it is very nice (I expected more padding, though). It's slim and semi-rigid, just like Oakley sunglass cases. I saw the CaseLogic neoprene sleeve at CompUSA and it was nice also. ALthough not rigid, the neoprene material was thicker that I thought it would be.

I ordered a Sumdex sleeve from eBags.com

It looks pretty nice, It'll arrive in a few days:

I have a marware sportfolio, it's designed for a powerbook but fits my thinkpad well.

definitely go to ebags.com to find a sleeve. they have sleeves as low as $20, and you can get some very nice ones. I just bought a victorinex sleeve for 40 from there. the shippings free on most stuff also, and its fast!

juicy coutoure has a laptop sleeve. but its kinda for girls since its tie dye

^^ Well I'm a girl but am not really into tye die. But thanks for the info! I'm planning on checking out LL Bean next week; if they don't have what I'm looking for then I'll order from ebags. Thanks everyone for the suggestions

S ordered an Eagle Creek sleeve from ebags. No shipping and 10% off sale. It comes in both horizontal and vertical styles.

How well do they protect it? What if someone drops it...god forbid

I'm using my sleeve to protect my laptop from getting scratched by books, pens, etc. in my backpack. My backpack is pretty well cushioned, however.

redski59,
What kind of cushioned backpack are you using that the sleeve fits into? I tried to fit the Vyper sleeve into a Columbia pack and it was too wide.

lkf725: my backpack is the JanSport Odyssey 38. It is very large for a school backpack, I must first say. It is padded and cushioned on the back side (the part against your back) as well as the bottom. However, the sides aren't. Still it is a pretty good backpack for me.

I ordered the case logic neoprene sleeve, btw. It isn't rigid at all, and since my notebook fits well into my backpack on its own, I'm pretty sure that the laptop in the sleeve will fit as well. But I don't get the sleeve until next Thursday, so I'll only know for sure then.

What kind of laptop do you have redski59?

so all the pressure exerted by several large textbooks won't hurt the laptop protected by these sleeves?

Shadowlands: I have a 4-yr old Sony Vaio laptop, which is 14.1" big.
