I’m considering buying the LG Gram as my college laptop because of its high specs with slim profile and low weight. I’m a CS major. My question is, should I go with the laptop with the 17" screen in the 15" body (2.95 lbs), or the 15" screen in the 13 " body (2.4 lbs)? Stupid question but I don’t want to regret the decision considering I’ll be using the laptop over the next 4 years and campus walks will inevitably be long.
The difference in weight strikes me as insignificant; same with the overall size if it fits in your backpack and will be protected from the weather wherever you are going. I will always choose the larger screen size with those parameters. Note that I have not been a college student for 40+ years but I have the same answers as a commuter and constant laptop user who is often frustrated by a small screen [I have to take what the sysads give me].
Nowadays with 4K resolutions, I think 17 is too big. 13 or 15 max. If you wanted a bigger screen you can always pick up a 28 or 32 inch monitor cheaply. You don’t want to be lugging a brick throughout campus.
