My going-to-be-a-sophomore S just got accepted and got amazing financial aid (thank you USC!!) but there is no USC housing available. If anyone has any tips, suggestions, leads, they would be greatly appreciated. We are not in the area so he may have to take something sight unseen. Also, his financial aid says "USC housing" on it; if he's off campus will that matter?

Also, if he can't attend an orientation (are there any left?), how does he sign up for classes and stuff?

have him call trojanhousing ASAP. i'm sure they'll find him something because technically sophomores are guaranteed housing. one of my roomies from this past year also came in at the last minute to housing, and they were able to find her a spot.

housing says there's nothing :-( and sophomores aren't guaranteed.
we found a studio for 800/mo north of campus which we'll take for the first semester only. then try to find something cheaper for second semester.
S called an advisor and has gotten his registration online, so that's mostly done at least. Financial aid told us he gets whatever cash is left from the financial aid after school expenses so he uses that for off campus housing.
