Hey everyone. I was curious as to what you all think about my circumstances. I am a white male with a very Asian-sounding last name, and my teachers sometimes even admit that just looking at my name, they assumed I was Asian. For college applications however, I will obviously put down that I’m white, however I don’t want the admissions committees to think I’m either lying or hiding the fact that I might be half-Asian or whatever. I know these committees are not necessarily allowed to make such assumptions, but I’m sure many may have their doubts… Do you think this will hurt me somehow, being that Asians are at somewhat of a disadvantage when applying? There’s nothing I can really do about it, but I just wanted to see your opinions. I will be applying to Ivies, if that somehow helps. Thanks!
You could submit a picture lol…I’m kidding, don’t do that. If you say white than they will treats you as a white applicant. They will also see your parents names and such.
You do realize that sometimes white babies are adopted by Asian couples, right? Colleges are not going to parse your last name to determine your race.
I’m offensive and I find this Asian. Just write about LAX and/or your yacht on your essays and you’ll be fine.
