last night of freedom approaches

On the alcohol piece I have seen people denied admission on I-day due to testing positive for alcohol in their system. It is not worth throwing it all away to get drunk one last time, there will be plenty of time for that at the academy once you are of age.

As for the Marine sunset parade, it takes place on Thursdays at the Marine Corps Memorial. It consists of the Silent Drill platoon along with two platoons from 8th and I and the Marine Corps Band. If you get a chance I would recommend checking it out.

LOL... leave it at "once you are at the Academy" - of age has nothing to do with it! Plenty of opportunity prior to "of age."

Just cause there is plenty of oppurtunity prior to "of age" doesn't mean it should be done, it's illegal.

just a thought for all of you incoming plebes with regards to alcohol. Since Adm. Fowler was sworn in, plebe liberty has been very limited; eg. no overnights or weekends. With that being said, there are breathalyzers all of the time (depending on battalion), and depending on the OOW for the day, there may be ones that are brigade wide. While I'm not saying that it's impossible to drink if that's what you're set on doing, it's not really the smartest idea to play with the system. Ya'll have a little over two weeks left...get it out of your system and enjoy the time you have left. And please, if you're one of those people who has been highligting and studying reef points already, PUT IT AWAY. There will be plenty of time for you to stare at it once you hit I-Day. Best of luck and see you guys on July 2 (or June 30!).

Re: Marine Sunset Parade....We went last summer to this while we were visiting colleges. It is great. It is at the Iwo Jima Memorial, at around sunset. We found out about it while we were touring Arlington National Cemetery; the tour guides encouraged us to go over since it was so close and it was a Tuesday night. There were lots of people picnicking before it started. I think there might even be a shuttle that takes you from Arlington National Cemetery.

We made reservations at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Annapolis.

I think they said the Glee Club was going to be there.
