<p>Ok CC'ers, I took a QAS w/ one equating section from the PSAT.
So here's the breakdown:</p>

<p>How can I raise my CR score to an 800? Thanks y'all</p>

<p>I regurgitated a 12-point-essay for this QAS so I said it’s a 12.</p>
<p>There’s not really a trick to getting the 800 in CR. Just continue to practice with the blue book (or other sources) critical reading passages and use the strategy that you are comfortable with. One of the strategies on CC is to look at the questions for line number references and underline those lines in the passage, and then to answer those questions as you read along. Then you would answer the remaining global and other types of questions after finishing the passage. One tactic that I use is to tell myself that this is the greatest piece of writing that I have ever read! I do this to make sure that I concentrate on reading the passage(s) and get through the passage quickly. And if you already have done all of this or other strategies, then just practice some more and continue to “get into” the test writers’ heads.</p>
<p>People who get 750+ but not 800 have one of two problems: very tricky passage questions, or tough vocab they don’t know.</p>
<p>If it’s the former, just practice a lot and you’ll learn to figure out context clues surrounding nebulous text. If it’s the latter, Barrons 3500. Problem solved.</p>

<p>Believe it or not, I know a person who memorized Barrons 3500 and still missed two vocabulary questions en route a 740.</p>
<p>^^ Yes. I think Barron’s 3500 is in one way outmoded, and in other way, lacking in content. Some “tricky” words that appear on the SAT do not appear on Barron’s.</p>
