last step = the student visa!

Ok, by now we have already decided where we'll be attending but there is one last step: the visa!.. I don't really know how hard is to get one...

can anyone share some insights?!..

Contact the American embassy in your country. From what I can remember, there are a couple of forms you need to fill out, you need the letter of acceptance to the school you're going to, financial certification and you have to be interviewed by someone at the embassy.

have u already gotten ur visa elevatorlove?

No, but I was at this information meeting on studying in the US earlier this year, and a man from the American embassy told us about how to apply for the Student F1 Visa.

You need to get your I-20 from the university.

hey it's me! heehee! we have exactly the same question!!! anyways, yeah my mom said that the process is for you to bring your acceptance letter, I-20 and you have to fill out something there i think, then you get interviewed but it also depends.

my problem is not yet receiving my I-20! i got my BU decision online so i dont have paper documentation either! gaspgasp. but i think once you confirm and submit your deposit they send everything you need.

good luck to both of us! :)

^ You should check up with BU.. I got my I-20 with my paper BU decision.. you know in that red folder thingee they sent us? I'm not enrolling (thus, no deposit sent) but they sent it to me with my acceptance letter anyway..

^^ thanks nofx! i just got my paper decision 2 days ago. theyve sent me the I-20 already so im working on getting the visa now :)

where are you applying?

How hard it is to get one mainly depends on the country you're in.

In central European countries the visa should be really easy to get (mine was). Make an appointment, go to the embassy with all required documents, do a 2-3min interview ("Why do you want to go? Who sponsors you financially? Where are you gonna live?") and you'll get your visa within a few days.

yeah I guess that students from developing countries are the most "suspicious" to remain in the US!..
