I finished my college apps a while ago, yet I suddenly have the urge to apply to USC now... I'm not desperate to apply or anything, but do you think they'll still accept my application if I was to apply now? I know a lot my colleges didnt recieve my application materials RIGHT ON January 1st, yet they didn't mind.

Maybe if you make up a really good reason for giving in a 5 day late app.

If possibly wasting the application fee is not a problem and your online application will submit (I don’t know if it will), I say go for it. If you REALLY love USC and the online application won’t submit, print the pdf and mail it in - they may think it was just delayed in the mail. As far as a reason, you probably shouldn’t make anything up - tell them that you JUST found out about all the programs at USC and that they would be a perfect fit for you and it turns out the application deadline just passed…

I think your “chances” would certainly be negatively affected by the late application, but if you are a very strong applicant you might be able to overcome that.

If you do decide to go for it, don’t be slow about the rest of the materials - get going on it and be sure everything, EVERYTHING, is in their hands before the end of next week. You never know :)

As HappyBuddha says, if you can reasonably explain your late application, you might have a shot. Anecdotally, I was talking with an admissions officer (at an Explore session luncheon) in early March a couple of years ago, and she told me she was reading an application that had JUST come in. I expressed surprise that such a late application would even be read, and she replied that they consider every application they receive - but that (as HappyBudda points out) they would be looking for a good explanation for the lateness.

Good luck with all your applications!
