Late Application

To make a long story short, I have submitted everything I required of me to the Academy. Problem is that for some reason, my regional coordinator kept on trying to send my coaches the CFA and none of them ever received it (yes they checked their junk mail). After trying repeatedly, i contacted my coordinator asking if there was a different way to take and submit the CFA, but he never responded. I finally called the Admissions Department and they resent the email for the fifth time, and my coach finally got it. However, by the time he got it, it was March 1st, and the deadline had passed. Essentially, my question is "Will the Academy accept late applications if the applications are late due to extenuating circumstances outside of the applicants control?"

And just to show what kind of applicant I am: 4.00 GPA (mostly honors and AP), AP Scholar, 2-sport athlete (Football and Track), student council, over a two hundred hours of charity work with 3 local charities, NHS and CSF member, and I got accepted to Cal Poly SLO for engineering. And I had ACT scores of 32 & 33 along with an SAT score of 2030

The USNA website does say something about not past March 1 “except in very unusual circumstances”. Worth e-mailing your admissions counselor (name/e-mail appears on the USNA portal/CIS) to ask but deadlines are created for a reason, esp. in the military, so I wouldn’t count on it.

Do you have a nomination from a congressman or senator?

Yes I got a nomination from my Congressman a few days after I interviewed with his board.
And the problem is that my admissions counselor is not responding to anything I send. The only reason I even got the CFA was because I called the Academy directly.

While you might be able to get some solace or otherwise here, the obvious answer is that you need to be talking directly to the USNA Admissions office. No doubt, you know that. They’ll give the answer. Here’s hoping they have not determined the lateness of your urgency in this specific matter is not an indicator of little or lukewarm interest. While it might be a simple yea or nay, they may determine to look at the chronology of steps taken or not. In any case, were I you, I’d be on the horn to them no later than 0800 05 March, Monday. No sense delaying the news, whatever it may be, any longer. Good luck.

I will try that as I am taking and submitting the CFA tomorrow afternoon. The lateness of my application has less to do with interest (as I am highly motivated to join the Navy, going so far as to join the Sea Cadets), but that I have focused all my energy towards football for the past year. Thank you

I had called Admissions but the woman who answered did not have any answers, so I am planning on calling again. I also emailed the admissions email, but I haven’t heard from them either due to the weekend

Whistlepig is right that you need to get someone from Admissions on the phone ASAP Monday. Be prepared, however, to explain why you still waited to take the CFA until Mar 5? I would think you could have taken the the initiative to get it done and then have it signed when the coach got the paperwork. Sorry that may not be what you want to hear…
