Late bloomers

I think we all get a little crazed sometimes about how getting into this school, or getting cast in that show or getting that agent is a make or break situation that will determine our kids’ success forever. This article reminds everyone that it’s a long road and hard work and persistence pay off, even when it seems like they’re not. http://www.gq.com/story/unexpected-sarah-paulson

Good article! Always good to take the long view every once and a while. There’s so many actors that find success at older ages. I use JK Simmons as an example to my son. Degree in music, and first IMDB credits start in 1990, he was born in 1955. I imagine he was working at it hard between 1975-1990…and in college you “learn how to learn”, and then you need to keep on learning.

Yes, good example (I’m not sure I’ll ever get his Whiplash character out of my head). We watched Seinfeld all the way through a year ago, and you can’t believe how many famous people did walk-ins on that show before they hit and were probably very glad to get them. Just keep going…it works for life as much as theater.

I love to rewatch a movie and find someone who has moved on to much bigger things. A couple just from the last 2 days… Michael Fassbender in 300 (yes, I paused while channel surfing to spend a few minutes watching the shirtless men… judge me if you will  ), and Ryan Gosling in Remember the Titans!!

This is a good one. http://on.aol.com/video/phil-seymour-hoffman–law—order–scene-517680349
