I went to a FIT orientation recently and found out they were still accepting applications for Fall 2012....I applied as a transfer student from another college
This is way after the application deadline of April 1.

I would like to know does any one have a guesstimate on whether I should get a notification to send in my essay/transcripts and etc...I know its a rushed process

BQ: I applied as a Fashion Merchandising major and they said that your essay is like your interview. I have a friends there for photography and he says they do interview you. Do they interview you for business majors as well rather than art majors?

I’m not sure. You should have sent in your application and your supplemental materials around the same time. If they haven’t received them they’ll probably send you an email through your MyFIT account stating you still have things missing from your application. But the best thing you can do is get in contact with admissions as soon as possible to find out the status of your application. Also, the deadline was January 1st for the SUNY App and Feb. 1st for supplemental materials. April 1st was the day they started sending out decisions.
I applied as a business major and didn’t have to do an interview. I think by ‘interview’ they mean the portfolio evaluation, which consists of some Q&A but mostly a review of the applicant’s portfolio. But portfolio evaluations are only for art/design majors so there is a lot more weight on the essay for business majors.
