I transferred to UCSD in Fall 2018 and completed all of the IGETC requirements prior to transferring. However, I’m just finding out my CC counselor never mentioned that I needed to send in the IGETC certification request to be considered an “IGETC transfer student”, so now I’m considered an “articulation transfer student” at UCSD. I’m in ERC college which means I would have to take a bunch of extra classes to fulfill their gen ed requirements, which would delay my graduation a full year. I know I will have no problem obtaining the certificate since I completed all of the required courses, but I’m wondering if UCSD will accept it this late? If not is there a chance I can appeal? I’m really concerned about having to take an extra 10+ classes because of this.
You need to talk to an academic counselor at UCSD. They would definitely know the process plus whether there is an appeal process.
You can go online and request certification on the CCC’s website. Get it mailed to the UC or hand deliver it. I’m assuming that will suffice.
