Hello, everyone, i am in an unfortunate situation, i am a transfer student who got accepted to UC Davis but because of a family emergency that required me to go out of state, i could not sir on time and missed the deadline because i was so busy with personal situation, i submitted a late sir request but was denied, right now i am appealing and currently they are reviewing it, do you guys think i have a good shot since the appeal guidelines are "Consideration for appeals is based on new and compelling information, extenuating circumstances and your overall academic record", any thoughts and advice, thank you for your time.

No idea. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck.

Thanks, hoping for the best, anyone else with an idea on this unfortunate situation?

Not to sound mean but your trip out-of-state does not seem like a valid excuse to miss the deadline… I mean it’s not like you couldn’t find internet somewhere and SIR (which takes a couple minutes). Perhaps if you were involved in some sort of accident and were admitted to a hospital or something, that to me at least would be valid under “extenuating circumstances” but just traveling does not.

Hope it works out for you but honestly you made a mistake here.

They are usually really strict about the deadlines and emphasize to applicants that the SIR has to be returned by their required date. The school has to plan for its admitted students and financial aid status.

If you were ill, I think they would seriously reconsider it, but if you traveled OOS without advising someone in the admissions office, their first denial tells you plenty. Like Kamelred said, it’s not like you couldn’t go online at a cafe or something.
