I submitted my applications for NYU, Columbia, and Stanford on January 1, but I am still not able to submit my supplements for each college because of Commonapp site glitches. What should I do?

I couldn’t submit anything because of the site glitches and now I can’t even log in. I’ve contacted the universities (including Columbia and NYU) to see if there’s anything I can do. You should probably do the same, but you should be fine since you did submit before the deadline.

I contacted Columbia via email, hoping dearly for an extension

does it look bad that we are emailing considering it’s the day of the deadline? I feel so guilty sigh…

I really hope they don’t hold it against us even if they let us submit late. It was the Common App’s fault, not ours. I know it would have been more responsible to submit earlier but it was still our right to submit hours before the deadline. Unfortunately the Common App didn’t feel like cooperating.

I completely agree. I think I’ll stay up for another hour. I’m getting a kick out of the common app hashtag on Twitter. I have been anxious because I submitted my Columbia app at 10:30 central time and on the Commonapp it claims it was submitted “January 2.” After I saw that, I was logged out… and it was downhill from there.

Common app is working now!

Omg I just died with all the tweets. I tweeted something when it all started and got like 5 favorites, now I know why. At least we’re not the only ones! Anyway, the website seems to be working fine but my profile page is still marked as incomplete even though it is complete and has been so for weeks. I sent them an email, hopefully they’ll be able to help. Good luck to everyone!

It’s official, the Common App just tweeted that all member colleges with a January 1 deadline will accept applications submitted on January 2!

Now I can sleep soundly! May the odds be ever in your favors, all you RD’ers!

I would recommend clearing the information from the area that remains unchecked, then refilling it in and hitting “save.”
