Latest to be recruited?

Hi guys,
Just wondering, I’ve been in touch with a coach, and he said that if I got deferred ED, he would potentially consider me for a spot in RD. I emailed him after hearing about my decision however have not heard anything back… Was wondering if it is too late to still be considered for his backing as the application deadline has passed or whether there is still hope?
Thanks

There may still be hope for support in the RD round if you were deferred ED. I know of someone having that very conversation this week with a coach at a NESCAC school.

One data point of experience relevant to this at a high academic D3.

Coach had X “tips” in the early round and X-1 or X-2 got admitted. Coach said out of a pool of 4-5 deferred recruits, maybe one or two would get an advantage in the regular round

Thanks for the replies, now I’m left confused as to what to do next. If he hasn’t replied to my email, is it safe to say he has decided on someone else RD or should I be patient and hope he gets back to me despite me sending my email around 3 weeks ago?

Coaches responding promptly is usually better than coaches responding slowly…even if a slow response is not a fatal thing.

Some people would advise to keep contacting the coach until you get a response, because what do you have to lose. I am not in that camp because I think it is always a positive thing to show maturity, respect and patience.

That being said, with your last contact three weeks ago, I think it would be entirely proper to follow up with a text or call. My suggestion is that the contact should be couched primarily in terms of your top choice interest in his school and program, and secondarily about whether he will support you.

In the final analysis, nothing is assured until RD announcement day, whether the coach responds or not. Either way you will have to abide the process.

I agree with the above. He may be trying to get a commitment from someone higher on his list, or he may just be occupied with other tasks at the moment. Either way, a phone call is in order at this point, IMO.

If calling isn’t an option as I’m abroad, are emails the best way to get a response?
