Does having “cum laude” (or summa- or magna-) on your diploma make a difference for law school admission? At Smith, you have to fulfill distribution requirements in order to qualify for Latin Honors. So if you have 3.9+ GPA but you don’t meet this requirement, you can’t be considered for Latin Honors. Do competitive law schools care about this?
Nope. Latin honors are not part of USNews’ ranking system, so they don’t count for admissions.
It won’t matter. Latin honors mean different things at different schools so it is hard to make that an important criteria.
Plus if you apply to law school during your senior year of college it would be too early for Latin honors to be awarded!
Really good points. Thanks @bluebayou and @happy1!
