Haven't really heard anything about the Latin SAT. I have taken four years of Latin (Intro through III) at the honors level, gotten staight A's. Will be taking Latin IV (H) this year, if I take it in june will I have enough experience. Is it harder than the NLE (National Latin Exam), because other than that don't have any experience with standardized Latin tests.

By what I have heard, I haven’t taken the test, the Latin SAT is easier. I would think it was easier than the NLE because it would be sort of stupid if it wasn’t. I’m going to be a Latin IV student also (AP Latin Vergil), but I don’t know about taking the SAT part.

For me, the AP test was easier than SAT Latin.

i haven’t taken the sat yet, but i’ve done a lot of practice problems and from what i’ve seen, it’s harder than the NLE for latin IIIs.

It’s very similar to the NLE, except without those annoying and arbitrary mythology questions.

What would be the best method to study for it (have plenty of time since I’m taking normal SAT in December, so I’ll have to take in June). Is it necessary to study a lot of vocabulary, or should good comprehension and grammar skills be enough?

Also, any recommendations on a good review book for it.

Two books I found useful:

[Amazon.com: SAT Subject Test: Latin w/ CD-ROM (REA) - The Best Test Prep for (Test Preps): Ronald B. Palma, D. Thomas Benediktson: Books](http://www.amazon.com/SAT-Subject-Test-Latin-CD-ROM/dp/0738602531/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1248310340&sr=1-1)

Reading comprehension is the most important part, so in addition to reviewing grammar I would spend a a lot of time developing your sight-reading skills and learning to break down syntax without spending a lot of time analyzing individual words.

Vocab is important. If you don’t know what the words mean, it’s going to be hard to figure out what the author is saying. The words used are pretty standard so you don’t have to learn a bunch of obscure words, but make sure you have a strong base.

I heard it was pretty brutal…you really need to have a PASSIOn for latin in order to get your 800!!!
