laundry

I received a letter from Soapy Joe's, a laundry service for GW students,
has anyone tried/used it???? Tell me about it.

It is used by a good amount of freshmen students. Basically, students will be given a bag to put there dirty clothes into every week and people will come and pick them up to take them and get them washed. Then, they return the clothes folded neatly in a bag. The people who I know used the service never really had any complaints about it so I would say people liked it. You can decide how much laundry a week you would want to get washed and then pay a set amount accordingly, as listed in the mail they send out.

Personally, I just like to do my own laundry. But if you don’t it’s a good service to have.

S has been doing his own laundry since he was 12, so we never considered this service. According to him, only freshman do it & not even a majority of them.

I’m an incoming freshman and was adviced not to go for it by many upperclassmen; many of them believed that it’s rather exprensive (especially in comparison to doing laundry on our own) and that it sucks you into a cycle, where you never learn to do your own laundry.

I’m an incoming freshman as well, and won’t be using the service either. My Cabinet member at CI basically told me that it was a waste of money, that could be put towards better things. Besides, we’re in college, so I think now would definitely be the time to learn how to do your own laundry (:

It’s a little expensive, but if you really dislike laundry and don’t mind paying for the service, it’s fine. I wouldn’t mind paying a little to avoid the crowded laundry rooms that some dorms have (while other dorms have relatively vacant laundry rooms).

They do their job of laundering your clothes in a timely and proper manner.
