Law a good alternative to MBA?

Hello,

I'm 28 years old, am just finishing my undergrad (general studies, creative writing/psych) and trying to figure out what to do after. I've spent the last 10 years working in trades and am trying to decide whether to push into management at the company I work at, or make a full career change and take a full time grad program.

My interests lie in problem solving and communications. I started school in business admin, spent a few years working in mutual fund sales and loans underwriting and hated it, being chained to a phone or a desk is not something I'm interested in. I've thought about doing an MBA but I've been told by many teachers, parents, friends etc over the years that I should go to Law School. My problem is, I have no idea what it's like to be a lawyer. From what I understand the bureaucracy and working environment would not be a good fit for me, I don't really want a set, comfortable environment to work in, I like to be moving.

However, I enjoy completing problems on the LSAT test, the curriculum of the program seems interesting and, in my eyes, it's an accreditation that I would always have to fall back on if I absolutely needed to find work. So, my big question is, what else is out there other than being a lawyer? Is it a worthwhile degree for someone hoping to work as a manager, or consultant instead of following a more traditional career path? On the other hand, would it just be overkill for me to consider and I'd be better of doing an MBA or something at night while I continue to work?

Curious how this worked out for others and what advice any of you might have, I really appreciate it.

Thanks!
