I am really considering becoming a law professor. Although, I am a senior in high school and I have enough time to change my career, I am still seeking information on this career. What majors and paths do you recommend I take to become a law professor? And also, what are the disadvantages and advantages of this career.

Well, you’d need a law degree, some scholarly publications, and some experience in law practice. So your first goal: Become a lawyer.

To get into law school, you can pick any undergraduate major in college really. Some choose to take a traditional route like Political Science or Economics or English or Philosophy, not just because it’s relevant to law but also because they tend to be somewhat easy majors, and a high GPA is key to getting into a good law school. However, a science or engineering or anything major is totally acceptable (just may be tougher to keep your GPA up). If you want to practice in a certain area of law, it would definitely benefit you to major in that area.

Google “How to become a law professor”… There’s a TON of information out there.
