law school

Does it look bad taking a pass/fail class in college? Do the graduate schools just assume that if u are taking that as a pass fail class then you were on the verge of failing and consider it like having a D on your gpa?

taking a pass/fail class in college is bad but not if those were the only options. for example, taking a pass/fail-only seminar or honors thesis seminar or whatever would be fine, and you could just explain it in the addendum. but law schools prefer to see grades if you had the option between pass/fail and grades, as grades help them predict your abilities. but i do think that taking a one or two pass/fail courses, especially if they are electives outside your major, would be fine (but again, it is more impressive to get a good grade in those classes outside your major).
