My son applied EA about a week ago. Does Lawrence send an email or letter acknowledging the application? On the admissions page of the website it says to check your "Voyager Account," but he hasn't received any email or letter providing an email or password. Has anyone received this yet? Thanks!

My daughter applied in early November, and she was sent an e-mail acknowledging her application with a password to log in to Voyager. My guess is that since the EA deadline was December 1, they received a lot of applications around that time and it’s taking them a while to process everything.

Thanks, csm, you were spot on. He got the email today.

When will EA decisions come out? D applied end of November. She likes this school a lot.

Last year, people started posting their EA acceptances on January 18.

It says on my portal and on their website that they plan on mailing our decision on January 30th. I assume it should be posted online as well! :)

My daughter applied/got in last year. The date for notification was Jan. 15, but notifications went out by snail mail and were not in the Voyager prior to that. She was standing by that mailbox anxiously awaiting the mail after the Monday federal holiday. Nerves galore! I see this year the notification date is pushed back to Jan. 30, and if notifications go in the mail again, it could be a couple of days after for U.S. residents to know. Lots of paperwork…people working hard to get it all matched up, reviewed, and done. Good luck to all.

No decision yet, but son got a letter today about applying for FA. I’d like to believe that means his app isn’t sitting in the “rejected” pile. :)

Sunmachine, that is exactly what happened to my daughter last year. An envelope came with information about applying for financial aid, and my daughter asked, ‘Did I get in?’ and I responded, ‘No, that’s weird, I wonder why we got that.’ It did make it seem that perhaps the big golden (well white) envelope was sure to follow. And it did. We also got letters from other schools regarding financial aid, but I know what you are talking about with regards to the letter you received. I hope your son hears good news after the January 30th ED notifications date…

My son got invited to an Athletic recruiting weekend Feb. 3 and 4. He doesn’t want to go if he’s going to be rejected, and it’s so soon after the acceptances go out, I feel he has a point. What do you think?

Vocemom, your question is excellent. If your son applied EA, it is unusual that they would invite him to an event if he were in the reject pile. It doesn’t make sense, just as when those financial aid letters come out prior to the actual EA envelopes last year and again this year. Maybe they have made a favorable decision, and they want him to come out soon after he gets the news so that he makes LU his final college choice after a visit. That’s all I can figure. I always hear about being a helicopter parent, which I am totally guilty of, so part of me wants to say, ‘Call Admissions and tell them what you are wondering below’ and the other part of me is saying what I wrote above. Good luck, and I hope your son gets good news. If the invite was super long ago, then who knows, but if it came very recently, I would say it’s possibly a hint of more good news to come.

P.S. My daughter’s roommate does some athletics, so I texted to see if she got that type of invite last year, but the answer was ‘No,’ so I am not a lot of help.

Thanks lawrencemom! He did just get this card last week, so I think he’s going to go ahead and attend the “All-Sports Recruiting Weekend”. It’s a chance to meet the soccer team, go to a class and stay at a dorm and not have to worry about hotels, etc. I am also a bit of a helicopter mom so I hadn’t even really brought it up with him, and when I finally got my husband to do it, I was surprised to hear he actually wants to go! :))

Since that card did come so recently, I do take it as a good sign, Vocemom. I hope he has a great time visiting LU.

DS just got the financial aid letter yesterday too. It is one of his top schols, so it perked him up a bit. The waiting is killing me! Has anyone heard about the Physics workshop, or will that come after admission?

On my application status, it said they have received my SAT/ACT scores when I never sent them. I was applying SAT Optional and marked that on the supplement. And I told my counselor not to put any standardized tests on my transcripts. What do you guys think? BTW, haven’t got any financial aid info yet but I live in Georgia.

For both the physics question and the SAT/ACT score question, my best advice based on our experiences last year would be for you to contact admissions reps you were working with and/or the one listed for your area if you didn’t have an interview or tour, yet. The one we worked with always got back to us when we had questions. My daughter didn’t want to disclose her ACT/SAT scores, either, and marked it as such, but I am thinking that maybe she got that same notification because she did write to the Admissions rep about not wanting her scores in the mix. She must have done that because she also saw the message about ‘receiving scores’…Maybe it’s a blanket notification that goes out to all the applicants. I know the waiting game can make kids anxious. I well remember that ‘What if I don’t get in?’ mantra many, many times last January. Stay positive. I am hoping good news comes for all of you who are posting.

Thank you, that makes me feel better! Lawrence is one of my top choices. I may visit Knox/Lawrence/Earlham during Presidents Day Weekend in Feb. We will be driving. I’m assuming there will be a good chance it may snow.

You may hit snow, and then again, you may not. We are from Minnesota, and we are running way behind/below in our normal snow/cold. LU has a neat ‘webcam’ that you can google to see what it looks like there on any given day. Sometimes it gets ‘stuck’ (today it looks like last night) but it is still fun to ‘check in’ and see how much snow is on the ground on one side of the Warch Center. We haven’t gone below zero, yet, which is very, very strange. I’m not complaining, but it doesn’t do winter justice. Have fun on your trip visiting colleges, and I’m glad I helped to calm you down. :)

We went to Lawrence Open House during summer, and advisor said they don’t consider SAT/ACT scores as priority, in admissions decision but like the info for their profile for those students who don’t formally submit stats.

We hit 5" of snow when we visited Lawrence last year over spring break – i.e. in second or third week of April! Nothing like Californians in a rental car trying to maneuver in the snow. . .But at least they know how to clear the snow quickly so it was fine. I remember decades ago when I lived in DC, and I think the area considered itself to be in the South so was in denial about snow. It took forever to get the roads cleared. Hope it is better there now.

We got the FA card too & DD is waiting on her EA decision. Already heard from Lake Forest with a scholarship. If the MA+FA packages are similar, I think we will be in for drama and agony. I am hoping it will be a clean process one way or another. . .
