Hello!

I recently had my Lawrenceville interview and I can say that it is now my first choice. The environment that enveloped me, plus the fact that they have a fencing team really drew me in. And I can definitely say that the school has me hooked. There were students at the admissions office that chatted with you and answered questions as you waited for your parents to come back from their interview and that was also a great experience.

My interview went quite well, but I am still quite insecure. I attended a boarding school fair in Philly about 2 or 3 weeks before my interview and I talked to a very kind lady from Lawrenceville at the fair. Luckily, that lady turned out to be my interviewer! In the beginning I had a feeling that I had seen her before but because I didn't want to make a mistake, I didn't say anything. Thankfully my mother said "I've met you before!".

The negative is that I think I did not point out certain qualities about myself. I never really mentioned Model UN and that is one of my most important activities. For my interview we talked about fencing and The Great Gatsby but I feel that I didn't get my passion in poetry across enough.

So I'm quite torn and worried. Not to mention that the essay for Lawrenceville is very difficult!

No need to be worried so much. Nobody’s perfect, especially students are nervous in interviews.

I am glad that you seemed to have a good interview with L’ville. It would be natural to miss a couple of points during the interview. You will get better next time. Write to every interviewer a personal thank-you note after you come back and include that you wanted to talk about the point that you think you missed during the interview (only briefly though). If they are mentioned on your essay or application form, they will notice it. Best of luck to you!

ps. Does you mom like the school?

Please say your Mom likes the school! :)

I sent her a thank-you e-mail the day after and she replied! I’m glad because it was very thoughtful of her to do so. Sadly, I didn’t include the point. (I’m just seeing this now for the first time. I e-mailed her a while ago.) The Lawrenceville essay is quite difficult but I think that I have a very good question + answer.

Yes my mom does like the school! She wouldn’t let me apply if she didn’t! Lawrenceville is both of our favorites and both of our #1 choices. There are so many pros to attending there and no cons!

I’m also taking the SSAT tomorrow. So nervous! I hope I do really well so that I’ll never have to take that horrid test again!
