Can anyone suggest some really good debate camps that I can think about going to during the summer? I'm a novice LD debater...so i know nearly nothing besides the basics of a case, rebuttals and other fundamental debate stuff...i've run ballots and stuff for my school and the judge table, but other than that i've only had one tournament and got into elims so....how can i get even better?

It depends on what kind of debate tournaments you plan on attending. What is your local circuit like? Are you planning on competing at the national circuit, TOC-bid levels? Or simply regional, local competitions? The competition is vastly different at different levels; locals tend to be very traditional and do not accept the more progressive style of debate of the national circuit. Many debate camps teach this progressive style; as a result, if you’re not going to be competing at national circuit, progressive tournaments, I don’t advise attending camps. If you do plan on doing so check:
VBI - [Summer Camp Victory Briefs](<a href=“Victory Briefs — Debate Camp & Resources”>Victory Briefs — Debate Camp & Resources)
NSD - [National Symposium for Debate](<a href=“Account Suspended”>Account Suspended)
NDF - [National Debate Forum](http://www.nationaldebateforum.com/)

I personally attended VBI. It is very intensive and involves a lot of work, but you do learn a lot and have a good deal of fun. California is a lovely place to be in the summer too. I do recommend it if you are looking to be a serious circuit debater.

Some of my friends have attended George Mason’s summer program and the Florida Forensic Institute. A lot of work, but they sound really interesting.

Florida Forensic does not have an LD program, as far as I know.
