I got nominated by a Lead America alumnus to Lea America, and i am interested in their Engineerin science and robotics program
is this program any good? is it worth the money?
do lots of people in american get nominated? Is it special at all? ( i am from Taiwan, studying in an international school)
and lastly, if not, can you guys suggest any good summer programs in United States?? I am interested in programs held in top-universities.

I was nominated for the past two years, but went to a similar program. I can say that they are definitely good experiences, but it sounds like you're looking for something with a great deal of prestige and since these programs are through private organizations, they aren't held directly through the "top universities" and I'm not sure how much weight they carry in having interest in those schools. That's pretty much all of my input, but I'm sure there are better programs out there only I can't suggest one for you in engineering/robotics.

THANKS.... hmm well it doesn't have to be engeneer and roboticsjust anything on teh science or math field.. not really a english lit lover...

I don't think programs like those are particularly hard to get into...LeadAmerica, Presidential Classroom, Congressional Leadership, etc...I've gotten brochure from all of them (I think because of the PSATs?), and it looks like all you have to do is have at least a B average and get decent recs and write good applications to get in. But then again, I've never applied or been to one so I'm not sure exactly. If you're really into science/engineering I'd say look through the other threads on the summer programs forum for more info. Hope this helps!

chaungp -- there are tons of summer programs for high school students in the US, from very expensive to not so expensive, from very competitive to not so competitive and from very academic to "let's just basically have fun".

what are you looking for? how much can your parents afford? (remember -- they will also have to pay airfare). What are you interested in? Are there areas on your college application that seems weak or areas where you are particularly strong that might be helped with a good summer program?

try googling "high school summer programs" and also check out these links --
