Brandeis just emailed me saying that I’m nominated to apply for housing in a Leader-Scholar Community–did anyone else get this email or does anyone know anything about the program? Is it an honors program or more like program-house living?

Email also said that the deadline to apply is April 1st and you have to submit the enrollment deposit with the application…don’t want to pass up the opportunity if it’s worth it to apply and Brandeis IS one of my top choices, but $500 is a lot to spend if I end up going somewhere else.

From what I have read it sounds like an interesting and exciting program. Trying something different and new spices up our lives. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

My daughter got that email. When she told me the deadline was April 1 I assumed it was for the program application. I didnt realize she was going to have to commit to attend Brandeis by April 1. That seems pretty unfair, since none of the college visit days, not even Brandeis’, are by April 1st.

“In keeping with the close, personal nature of the program, space is strictly limited. Students must submit their enrollment form and fee, their housing application and this application for consideration by April 1st, 2013.”

I don’t think you have to necessarily commit–looks like they just want the deposit. Then again, why pay the deposit before you’re ready to commit…

I equate paying $500 with agreeing to attend the school. Otherwise as your prior posts suggest, spark1208, it could end up being a waste of money.
