Hi - I have a question about the Leadership Award. The application says to “describe up to five activities that best reflect your commitment to volunteerism and/or community service.” Would this include being editor in chief of the school newspaper or being an officer for a student government group? I just wasn’t sure if they qualified as “volunteer” activities. Thanks!
The activities are supposed to showcase your community service and volunteerism, while the essays are your chance to show your leadership. Neither of the activities listed would qualify as “volunteer” activities; I would save them for the essays.
OK, so I wrote an email to the Cal Alumni Assoc, and they said to include these activities. They said that volunteerism can be understood as any activity that you do without payment.
