Hi I’m a rising junior and there is an interesting class in my school, it’s open to only juniors and seniors but you have to apply to get it on your schedule for the next year. 95% if the class is made up of seniors and I was one of only 4 rising juniors to get in. Is this class appealing for college admissions? I am lucky that I get to have this class for both my senior and junior year. I feel like it will provide a talking point in my essays etc. Any thoughts?
If you think that then sure go ahead, but that alone is not going to show your leadership. You need positions in teams or groups and do something noteworthy in the position to really shine.
Also for your college essay it might not make a real talking point if you really consider it. Remember that you are not the only one to take a similar class. The admission officers will be reading countless essays on leadership.
Also don’t think of college admissions, think of what your future career will be and choose classes accordingly. If you want to be a leader, like a CEO or a politician then sure go ahead! but if you are looking into another field, I suggest avoiding the same class twice as the colleges will see that you took the exact same class twice…
