Leadership in the Business World (LBW) 2010

hey Penned,
i was just wondering what your experience was like at LBW 2009. Was it worth the cost of the program? what kinds of things did you learn in the program? did you find that the student body was diverse?
thanks a lot

Hi jhjh181,

I had an amazing experience at LBW 2009. It really was an opportunity that was worth the cost to me in my opinion. I was exposed to the many career choices in business and the opportunities to impact change in the world of business.

In regards to things I learned at the program, we were unable to go into high levels of depth in any subject of business, due to the nature of the program (being only a month long.) However, I feel that I was able to build a stronger general knowledge of business. From subjects such as the history of economics to mergers & acquisitions, we went over basically what you could call Business 101. I think there is an academic calendar on the LBW website if you want an idea of the types of lectures we had. Some of the lectures were much more technical and others were based on specific careers or leadership.

The days are jam-packed with activities, so much so that by the end of the month, it was difficult for some to keep awake all of the time! You will never have a moment of boredom, I will tell you that!

The student body consisted of a ratio of ~40% internationals and ~60% U.S. students. This is probably the best part of the program, the people you meet. I was amazed with the brilliant students I was surrounded by who were all coming from different backgrounds all around the world. I have made connections and friendships from around the globe that I know I will have for the rest of my life!

Overall, I would definitely recommend it if you can afford it. I can honestly say it was one of the best months of my life.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. When do you guys hear decisions? Good luck to you all!

we will know by April 23

^ Aghhh! That’s in a week.

I do hope I get in…

I’m VERY nervous… :P

Penned, thank you so much! i really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
You’ve made the program sound really great and I hope I get in because I think it would be an awesome experience.

I know that the days are jam-packed with lectures and stuff… But what about the social aspect of the program? Was there time to just hang out and have fun too? Like… are there social events in the evenings like dances? Are we allowed to go out on our own and hang out with friends and stuff? I know it’s an academic program but it’s my summer vacation too and I want to make sure that there’s some time to have fun and it’s not just all learning

Thanks again!! i really appreciate it

Hopefully we’ll get the emails tomorrow!

Does anyone know how we find out? Do they just send e-mails? And does everyone find out tomorrow?

I’m pretty nervous guys.

ahhh so soon, i’m so scared!

Has anyone heard anything!?

not yet Iam waiting too tempted to call them

I’m not gonna but damn, I am nervous.

I don’t know if it’s better or worse to be international!

It’s 1pm here so this has already been a tense day.

This is taking forever. Have no idea how much longer.

I applied too; I checked last year’s thread, and it looks like the emails weren’t sent out until 1-2pm EST. I can’t wait that long, already clicking “Check Mail” every 5 seconds…

Good luck to everyone!!!

I got in. Looking forward to it

I’m in with financial aid!! Good luck to you all! I’m so excited!! :D

I’m in too! Very excited!!
