is it true that we're not allowed to use cell phones during the day at lbw? also, does anyone know whether there's wireless internet? I need my electronics!

I had one quick quesiton. Are the students at the summer programs allowed to use the Fitness Center? And if so, what would be the fee?

there's wireless internet, and i've heard that there's an apple store in as well. are we allowed to buy ipods or macs with discount?

and yes, the booklet says that we're not allowed to use our cell phones. tough luck...

I'm sure we can use them at some times during the day. Most likely at night.

hey guys. I finally found this forum because I was definetly in the wrong thread but anywhooo...

So I see that a lot of you play tennis...awesome! I'll be sure to bring my stuff and we can all play. And yeah are we gonna be allowed to use the fitness center because I'll end up running every morning and maybe lifting if theres time.

I think the booklet says you only can't use your cellphone in public during the day. You can still use it in your room and at night.

i got accepted at lbw!! wow, im really glad i stumbled onto this thread. i cant wait for the camp to start. my screen name is yguff88 if anyone wants to chat. also does anyone know when theyre mailing us the schedules? thanks

what is your stats?

I hear they ONLY make selections off this. And it is not the adcom.

Whoever told you that was sooo completely wrong. NO COLLEGE or any other camp/activity associated with colleges JUST looks at scores. If that was the case than they would spare everyone the time and just have them send an SAT report instead of a list of activities, interests, essays etc.

wow I'm not sure where to begin commenting on how wrong the "stats-only" theory is. admissions officers can't find the kids they're looking for just by looking at numbers! in some officers' minds, stats may even sometimes weigh less than essays or ecs, which (unlike stats) can reflect the amount of determination/passion/commitment an applicant has. this is why hundreds of straight-A students who get 1600 (now 2400, I guess) receive rejection letters from top colleges, while students who show that they are active and will make a difference in the real world get in. I could really go on and on about this, but I'm sure everyone's heard it all before.

happy memorial day, everyone.

my name is melinda and i just figured out this whole posting website. my aim is lindy882 if anybody would like to chat.

Well...I originally wanted to apply to LBW but I didnt.

I contacted the people at LBW (not JKCP) and they said they look for people with the same stats as people who apply to Penn. THAT IS A KEY FACTOR IS DECISIONS. There are many people on CollegeConfidential who applied (early) and got rejected. Why? Becuase their scores were to low (and there was rolling admissions), and I can tell you those guys had more heart to go to the program to gain experience, than going just because it is Penn.

LBW Admissions people are the ADCOM. They are students.

well, my sat II scores sucked (math level I-700, math level II-700) and PSAT was 178-not very well either. i don't think that they look at scores only..

the sat score that i sent in was 2230, psat 224. im sure good test scores help but theyre definitely not the only things they look at

yeah mine were definetely 2200 SAT and 214 PSAT. I don't consider them great so I don't really know...it's a combination of everything it seems.

2390/232

I go to a public school, so maybe stats are more important for kids who don't go to magnet/private/prep schools.... but I still think essays/extracurricular activities weigh heavily in admissions decisions.

As I said before, the ADCOM does not have any representation in this process. Thus, the essay/EC will not effect it that much becuase studnent/professors at Penn are making the decisions, there is a big difference between the two.

How can you say a 2200 is horrible?

does anyone know anything about kellogg, the business school at northwestern?
also, for lbw: do you guys think it will be 2 people to a room, or 3?

and to whartonorbust: are you talking about LBW admissions or general undergrad admissions at wharton?

I don't think stats are a big deal, unless they're horrible. You would most likely be rejected from Wharton if you had all sub 650 scores no matter how much you wanted to go to the school unless you had a really compelling case. If it were all stats, I'm sure some of us wouldn't have gotten in. LBW can certainly find 60 people with higher stats, but they obviously weren't looking to do so.
Plus, I chose this program because I thought it was a great mix of classroom and application. I think the people going are genuinely interested in business and not just going because its Penn.

I read somewhere in our info that its two people per room.
