Leadership in the Business World

Hey scorpion,
thanks for all the information. It sounds like a great experience.
The thing is that I am applying to LBW this year also, and I looked at the application for the internship, and I decided that once i hear back from LBW, depending on whether I get accepted or not, I will apply to the internship.
Is it difficult to get into the internship if I apply say late April? Do the business internships fill up quickly?

And also, how do you apply specifically for an internship at an investment bank? Do they give you that option?

Pall, i think the only thing that will prevent you from getting an internship is the total number of spaces available for all the internships. I know I applied around late Feb. to march last year, and all 50 of the slots for session I were filled. I would say however, that you would have a 75% chance of a slot still being available by late April for session II. What happens in the intern selection process is that they have a set group of companies in various fields they know will accept their interns. If you're field doesn't match any of these companies or if there aren't any more spots available at these companies, they will go out and look for a company that will take you specifically based on your interests. What I did for my internship at Navigant Capital was that in the "first choice" blank I put: Business (investment and finance), and in the "other" blank I put: Investment Banking. I would recommend that you call the internship coordinator (I think they got a new one this year) to tell him specifically what you're looking for. Hope to see you at LBW this year!

Wow
Thanks a lot for all this. you've really helped me out. I will definately contact the internship coordinator and talk to him. Thanks again
and good luck with lbw!

LBW 2006 attendees:
Do you remember how strictly the 300-word limit was enforced? I'm having a lot of trouble writing something coherent that's less than 300 words...

I actually just applied last night, and its a text box, so it is strict. it has to be exactly 300 words or they wont let you submit it.
and even with the description for the three activities, it can only be 250 characters or something. thats pretty much like one sentence.
anyways, g'luck w/ ur app

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... i just learned on thurs. that my teacher had sent his rec. directly to the address on the lbw website. i called jkcp and they said that they hadn't recieved it, and penn hasn't either! *** should I do??? I already had everything ready and was planning to send it today.

thats really weird, cuz i called in and they said the same thing to me, that i was missing one teacher rec. even though my teacher mailed it directly to lbw a while ago....i have no idea what to do either

did your teacher send it to penn, or to the julian krinsky office? cause i know my teacher sent it to the actual huntsman/wharton building, so i'm not surprised that it's lost.... now i have to either send another one, or track it down :(

ohh my teacher sent it to the julian krisnky office, so i'm not too worried and i think they'll prob get it sometime today or tommorow.
im not sure what you can do, because sending it directly to penn is def going to get lost. did ur teacher mail it to penn admissions? cuz you might want to call them and ask them if they have it...idk what else you can do. will your teacher just reprint it and send another one?

applications sent from jkcp to penn today. good luck everyone!

Copies of test score reports

How would i send this to them? Is it the PSAT results that we got in school? Or the SAT results they mail to us? Or do I ask my school for a copy?

i called in and they said to just photocopy/xerox the copies of the score reports they send home, and just put it in a folder and send it. they dont have to be straight from collegeboard or anything

So I sent in my app for this pretty early because I REALLLLYY want to get in. ANd I got a confirmation email from julian krinsky camps or whatever via email about 2 weeks ago.

and today in the mail, i recieved a packet about financial aid info. like "how much are u willing to pay" and things like that since I DID request a packet in my app. But does this mean I am in? Or does it mean that I'm going to most likely get in? I'm afraid to ask for too much in case they reject me, but I also don't want to ask too little because my family is on a tight budget this year.

HELP? anybody know if LBW is need blind or not?...

LBW is NOT need-blind; however, it is pretty generous. I applied for aid and I received the amount I requested. I know a person who got almost full tuition... so dont worry about how much you need.

If they sent you the fin aid app is cause you checked off the box that indicated if you wanted to apply for aid. It doesnt mean you are or are almost in. But dont worry, believe me, I recommend you not to think you r already in, once the letter arrives, and you realize youre in, it feels so much better!

Oo I just found out about this program. Do we submit the online application first and then send the transcripts/recommendation letters? Where's the address that we have to send it to, I can't seem to find it lol.

o **** i just got rejected by tasp, which i was counting on. this was the only other thing i applied to, and i requested a butt load of financial aid...

shoot im not gonna have anythign to do this summer

question... if they sent me a confirmation email like "we got ur application and we'll let you know our decision soon" about 3 weeks ago... and it still hasn't come, is it safe to assume that i've been like "deferred" or whatever.. how long does it take for them to get back to you usually?

Hey lemon pop, don't worry i heard back from them like a month after I applied, I got in :D Very very excited, hope you get in too! Anyone else doing LBW '07? x

hey, i ahven't even applied yet, but of course will be doing so VERY soon...stupid procrastination...

wow, the wait is killing me. I sent it in around beginning of February, and just hope they it soooon. Btw, Ishika would you mind posting your stats, as it seems like you got your decision extremely early and just to give others a guide as to who we are competing with :P
