Leadership that isn't... leadership?

So at my school, many of the activities that I participate in (Academic Team, Model UN, for example) do not elect leadership positions, but nevertheless someone leads them. That someone, this year, is me. How do I claim this on my college application (specifically, the common app)?

Also, can I claim a reward given to a group I was in (such as a "Best Delegation" award from a Model UN) on a college application? If so, is the wording, "Member of the Best Small Delegation at the Blah U Model UN Conference" acceptable?

Also, anyone else confused as hell as to the "Activities" section of the common app?

Thanks SO MUCH!

First question: Just get your GC or the teacher sponser's who help run the clubs to mention the fact in the GC recommendation. Also, you could mention it in the Addional Info section on the Common Application.

Second Question:Yes, if you recieved the award, or your group, you can put it down. What else would you do with, yet it as sentimental value instead of exploiting it to give you an edge in admissions?!
/sarcasm

Thrisd Question: Not really, but the then again. I am only a junior. :)

well I never put down when our MUN club got best delegation. that doesn't mean you can't. half the time I wouldn't even win an award (cuz I'm not that good at MUN). on my supplemental activity sheet I did list all the awards I got at various MUN conferences. I used for the format:
Outstanding Delegate, XYZMUN Conference
Honorable Mention, ZYXMUN Conference
under the general headline about MUN. I also think you could write a brief thing about what you did as a leader for the club in the unelected capacity.

I know last year that activity part was mad confusing...hours per week what??

Activities are things that you did that you can fill out all the sections under the activity for, if you can't fill out all the sections with what you did, don't put it as an activity.

Also, you're faced with the question of putting the Best Delegation as an activity or an honor. Where do you think it fits best? Where would it make more sense or carry more weight?

I think the funniest thing is being an appointed leader of something. Some funny stories there...

Anyway, I think that you should address it in an essay or just list what you did in the club.
