Least popular major at yale?

Does anyone know the least popular major or atleast some of the more unpopular majors at yale?

Probably something in the sciences....maybe like environmental engineering or something

i heard astronomy only has two or four undergrad majors. might be a good thing to say you're interested in.

i'm interested in astronomy. That's one of the reasons why i want to transfer. My current school tulane has 1 astronomy class.

I don't know if i plan on majoring though.

Does anyone know anything about the popularity of german majors?

Film Studies has twenty students!! Yay for the arts...Photography is even smaller but has seletive barriers...Anything in the visual arts is very small (except theater studies, which is huge)

sociology.....?

How popular is Evolutionary Biology compared to Molecular Biology?

is mole and evol bio even amajor at yale? i thought they only had regular bio.

Anyway i would also like the know the answer to this question

Yale has two Bio majors, basically one molecular and one ecological. the Molecular is genetics, cellular, molecular, and developmental I think, but I'm not completely sure because that's not the major I want. The other is Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, which is what I want soooo bad and not many other colleges even have this major, yet it is my dream to study it.

then i believe that also have a third bio major. the regular biology major. I think you have to take courses in both ecology and cell and molecular bio.

That might be true, although usually when I see the Bio major split up, there's not an option for general biology. Most people who want to become doctors will end up taking the molecular biology major.

yale has one umbrella biology major, which has 2 subgroups, mcdb (molecular, cellular and developmental bio) and e&eb (ecology and evolutionary bio). you have to choose one of these two groups (you cant just major in "bio"). both have prereqs and several classes that intersect, but their focuses are quite different. premeds usually do mcdb but u can certainly do e&eb.

How popular is Classics??

I'm not sure about classics, but what about Near Eastern Languages/Civilizations? I don't think that would be very popular.

If you're trying to figure out the least popular major so your application will have a better chance, don't do it - Yale will see right through it. If you don't have a passion for the area of study you have chosen, Yale will notice. Your chances won't increase; if anything, they'll worsen.

If you aren't, good! And to MzLover3, I don't think sociology is an unpopular major, especially considering that psychology, political science, etc. are some of the most popular ones. I could be wrong, though...

I have a bad feeling that could have happened to me. I applied for biomedical engineering with premed - and I dont have any research experience outside school or anything - I took AP Chem and AP Physics though. But the thing is - i REALLY want to do biomedical engineering for undergrade - I applied to ALL engineering school (except for Yale and NYU where it was just liberal arts colleged)

But I doubt that was the SOLE reason.

Did you discuss your passion for biomedical engineering in an essay? That would've helped your case, I think, and not counted against you.

Well, i didn't talk specifically about biomedical engineering, but I did mention in my essay my love for science and some stuff from AP Chem

Oh man. Why am I still worrying about this? its OVER! I need to get OVER it!
