Leave first semester for movie filming??

I was lucky enough to be cast as the lead in a multi million dollar movie, but (due to some budget raising set backs) the summer filming will spill a week or so into my first semester at college.

Does anyone have experience with taking off school to perform? And btw, I’m a Physics major, not acting, so it’s not like my professors will understand the relation of leave to my major.

I just don’t know whether to not come to the first week or so, or just miss a day or two here and there (as my director suggested), or simply take off the first semester as a whole? I still have time to move my class schedule around.

I don’t think anyone can answer this but your school’s administrators but in general when kids have to take off school for an extended period, they take a leave of absence. If it’s only a week, maybe not, but that’s a judgment call.
