Leaving mid-semester

Hello, everyone. I am an undergraduate senior and will be graduating this fall, possibly next spring. I have a 3.1 GPA, never dropped nor failed a course, and I am not planning to do so. However, this April I will be auditioning for a show, which requires me to travel to Florida late March, early April, but I don’t want to drop the four courses I am taking now afraid of being put on probation from financial aid. My concern is, can I talk to my professors and ask if I can complete 80% of the work (considering the assignments I have turned in since our first class day, Jan. 16) for a C before I leave to Florida? I need advice. :frowning: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please help. Thanks in advance!

**Edit: I am new to this page and may have posted this discussion under the wrong forum. Sorry. :frowning:

You should first discuss this with your Dean and your major advisor. If you are going to be away from campus for a long time, you might be best off to arrange now for Incompletes in these classes. Then finish up the coursework and exams later on. Your Dean and advisor can help you determine the best way to approach your professors.

Aim to be away from campus for as short a period of time as possible. If the audition can be scheduled during your spring break, that would be even better. Go, audition, get back to campus.

Thank you!

At my university, you need to complete 70% of the coursework before requesting an incomplete. Check to see if that is a rule at your school.
