Lecture Structure

How are lectures/tutorials structured? How long per class and are lecturers meant to engage with students? Thanks.

The length of the class varies. I’ve had 50 minutes three times a week and 4 hours once a week.
Normally during lectures, the students don’t talk and don’t ask a lot of questions. I save my questions for office hours.

It’s pretty much how fluteloop described it. The main exceptions to that structure are language courses, where the prof may get students to repeat vocabulary or engage in discussion to practice their pronunciation, and seminar-style courses, where discussion is encouraged/expected, and you’ll need to do the reading beforehand to be able to participate fully. The latter structure is usually only encountered in upper-level courses, though.
