@Ahmeda14960 I’m kind of a history buff but mostly outside of school. When I say that I mean that I don’t like textbooks and cramming for tests but I do like reading primary sources from different time periods and watching history documentaries. Textbooks can often become really boring and I like reading about people’s lives rather than wars. The revolutionary and civil wars are kind of interesting though. I really like APUSH, which is weird because I disliked AP EURO. While the teacher of my AP EURO class was pretty awesome, I like the lectures of the APUSH teacher more. Sadly, I got a 3 on the AP Euro exam last year. This was because of poor work ethic and a lack of interest in many of the things we learned. However, I’m pretty confident about my chances of getting a 5 this year because US history is really cool. Did you take AP Euro?
@knizzle Which college classes are you taking? I took some classes at a nearby community college and they were really interesting. I took philosophy, reading and writing, critical thinking and composition, history of western civilization to 1600, and student leadership development. It’s really cool how high schoolers can take these classes for free.
I did not take AP Euro @shanabanana1 1 but I did look at some practice questions and I found them to be straightforward, if not esoteric very specific. I think the perfect example was a question that showed a map and asked: “which family ruled these lands?”. It was the Hapsburgs, but there was NO WAY of knowing that using context. The new euro test is more context.
Word of advice. Chill out. I understand yall’s worry. But part 2 is literally the easiest part. Part 1 was the hardest part of the process. Also comparing and talking about GPA’s and stuff can be hella discouraging. I know one person that applied with a 4.0 and didn’t get in. So LEDA truly has a holistic process. Calm down. Congrats on the people that have gotten to round 2. LEDA always notifies everyone. They practice rolling admission. Which for me it meant I didn’t get round 2 until spring break while some people were already accepted into the program. So don’t lose hope
Hasnt anyone finished the second round of the application?
has*
I am almost finished. I just need the official standardized test report. For the PSAT scores, I put the ones lower on the score report that were out of 38. For example, I got a 37 in reading, a 34 in math, and a 36 in writing.
And now I am finished.
Oh smart @shanabanana1 I didn’t know how to fill it out
@shanabanana1 Did you notice how they gave us an option for weighted or unweighted GPA for high school? They “please provide unweighted” for the junior year one only. I had a few B’s my freshman year, but I’ve had all A’s in my AP classes and my classes since sophomore year, do you guys think I should do weighted?
@Ahmeda14960 I’m pretty sure our counselors already sent in our transcript in the first round, so don’t worry too much about having those B’s…unweighted might be better since they ask for it. Also, depending on where you live, weighted GPA’s can differ by how they are calculated.
I put my weighted GPA in the first and then the unweighted in the second one that said out of 4.0 because I wasn’t sure.
I already submitted it so I can’t go back but I assumed that that’s what they meant.
@Ahmeda14960 I saw how you said you took some classes as Johns Hopkins…just wondering what county do you live in? I live around 30 minutes from Johns Hopkins
Do you think it’s hurt if I only have a PSAT (I haven’t taken the others yet)
I don’t think it would hurt you. If we get in they’ll prepare us for the exams.
Thanks, also is the tax return form one specific sheet or a series of them ?
My parents gave me a two page document so I guess two pages?
@Gunkz123 I take classes at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth online. I’m taking AP macroeconomics online, which I haven’t mentioned in my application.
I’m going to email Iris to ask her if my tax transcript is acceptable.
