Hi everyone! I want this thread to be for anyone who is applying, or considering applying to LEDA. If you don’t know what it is, it’s basically a VERY selective seven-week summer program at Princeton that is supposed to help socio-economically disadvantaged students gain acceptance to the nation’s elite colleges for juniors. I am going to apply once the application comes out in a couple of months. I am both nervous and excited at the same time! Please feel free to post anything related to LEDA on here, especially if you did LEDA in the past. Thank you!
I’m also applying to LEDA! I didn’t know anything about it until last week when my counselor told me about it and now I’m really excited about it and really hoping that I can get it.
I just started the application process myself. I noticed that they ask for a lot of specifics. I have a question though. 
If my parent makes just under $65,000 will this affect my application?
Hey Gwayne! I would assume it wouldn’t count against you when they are reading through your application, but I can easily be wrong.

Also I wanted to know where could I find a list of the states that has been represented in LEDA for previous years??
@gwayne22 : I don’t think it will. The applications were read holistically. Make sure you SHOW—not tell–them that you deserve to be a LEDA Scholar: that you have what it takes to be a successful scholar despite any burden you may have. Good Luck!
I was wondering if anybody knew whether the account balances for our parents’ checking and savings accounts were supposed to be from a certain date.

For a question like that I would email Leda and ask
I emailed and they said that it’s supposed to show how much is in the accounts after paying for regular expenses.
To go off of what gwayne is saying, will it help me more that my family only made 19,000? that’s a lot below the average and I’m hoping it’ll help. ( If you’re wondering how i’m alive, im in the country and the average income in my town is right around 20,000)
Also, do they consider race?

Guys, I have never been this nervous in my entire life! I want this so badly. I don’t know what I would do without it! I have few questions. I am involved in activities, but I have not received awards! Does this affect my application? Also, when they asked about past Summer activities, I honestly didn’t do anything special, since both Summers were a low point in my life… Does this also affect my application?
I think if you used your low points to describe how it’s changed you into the person you are today, and possibly the leader you are with the beliefs you stand for

Hey Nierouz! The decision is ultimately up to you, but I think it wouldn’t hurt your application, but instead help explain your circumstances. Although, if there are other things you would rather write about that are more appealing to you, I would suggest writing about that and show them why they should admit you. (: I’m so excited/nervous and I wish the best for all of us!
The LEDA application is due in 18 days! How is everyone doing so far with their applications?
