Hey y’all! So some Leda scholars in cohort 14 did start and turn in their app on the day it was due?
As for if leda has any help, yes your scores might be good for you, but what really helps is the writing counselors who literally help you edit your essays. My writing instructor is from Cornell, and some others are from Harvard, UT Austin etc. so it’s benefical even if you have a high act score.
If y’all have any questions, feel free to contact me on insta! jihongni
There’s also a group me cohort 14 created that I can send through my insta!
@jhongn22 wait are you the kid who vlogged LEDA ?
Yeah @Abeyance he is! I’ve watched them and all I want is to get in!!
Me too!, I love his videos so muchhhh
Hey! Can someone post the link to join the GroupMe on here? Don’t have an Insta so it would be greatly appreciated!
@Abeyance Yes, LEDA is still a good choice. Even if you’ve done well enough on the ACT/SAT (34/1500) to be opted out of tutoring, you will spend time studying for subject tests. Also, the writing help that LEDA gives is immeasurable, even if you think you’re a good writer. But beyond that, there are so many other reasons to be a part of the program. They provide a completely free summer at Princeton, giving you a great idea of what you are looking for in a college through college guidance and college tours among the east coast. Also, the LEDA name is an incredible thing to have. During the summer, you will get the chance to network SO much with influential individuals and it is encouraged to do so. They even set up lunches with people from different corporations and institutions for you to get to know them. Also, LEDA sends a letter of recommendation to every college—they have a lot of connections at a lot of schools, so this helps a lot.
Beyond all that though, most of my fellow scholars (including myself) appreciate LEDA for the community. The two months at Princeton were some of the best times of my life, and everyone considers each other to be family.
You won’t regret it.
@berd2k thank you so much for your helpful reply!
Hey Cohort 14! Do y’all remember the program dates? Knowing the program’s possible dates would help me plan my summer accordingly. Thanks!
Did you end up applying to top schools yourself? How would you describe LEDA’s support in the application process? Do you know anyone who did both LEDA and Questbridge?
@jkixchiu the date should be from a Saturday in midJune to the first Saturday of August. Our dates were 6/17-8/4.
@kwaku365 , no. If you get accepted to leda and do take part of the program, you physically can’t do questbridge or you’ll end up kicked out of the program. And Leda support during the process is truly amazing. I would even say better than questbridge in a sense that you’ll have a writing instructor helping you with revisions and help make your application be the best possible. My writing instructor is from Cornell and she would critically attack my essays when high school teachers might think it’s good, and you could even set up conferences to talk about ideas for prompts. And with schools, many scholars have gotten into their top school. I’m part of co14, so we’re high school seniors right now, applying to colleges.
Hope this helps!
Anyone hear anything yet?
Nope
What are the additional materials that LEDA asks for in the second round of applications?
Did they already contact you? Has anyone heard anything yet?
But overall, I think its transcripts, taxes, and test scores. I’m pretty sure they cut like 90% of the applicants during round 1 anyway…
I’m a semifinalist! They just ask for tax returns, updated academic information, and proof of citizenship. They mentioned it was on a rolling basis so not everyone will receive the emails at the same time.
^Yeah they just announced round 2
Does anyone know how many people who make it to part two get an interview typically?
Hey Guys. I just created this. I was wondering how many ppl moved to the next round?
Based on what I’ve heard, Round 2 is just to make sure that you’re not lying about anything. As long as everything is in order, you’re good to continue. However, I’ve heard a lot of varying information about the number of applicants accepted from the interviewing round. I’ve heard that about 30-60% of applicants who are interviewed are accepted, so I’m not exactly sure… Are there any LEDA scholars from past cohorts who can comment on this?
