Leftover Pell Grant Money from 2005

Because of the down turn in the economy I have returned to school and discovered that I have Pell Grant money that I never received from 2005. I did officially accept payment terms but never received the money from the school and I had actually completely forgotten all about it.

It is listed on the schools financial aid website as it being awarded but never received. My question is can I still collect this money?

Thanks!

I doubt it.

Did you actually go to school in 2005? Why was the Pell not disbursed to your account?

I say go for it. I collect my Pell Grant money every semester as leftover from FA. I never collected them that late, but it’s money earmarked to you, so why not take it?

I would be surprised if you were eligible to receive it. It is possible that you were awarded that money based on full time enrollment, and then you did not actually have full time enrollment. The award may still be on the website simply because it was awarded to you. Generally speaking, you would have already received a refund in the mail if you were actually owed financial aid money.

You can call & ask, though. Call the Bursar’s Office.
