Legacies???

so if im not mistaken, a legacy is someone who has had a family member attend the spefic school

does this include cousins and 2nd cousins or is it just restricted to mother , grandmother and so on???

how much do they taken into consideration if you are on will it boost your chances like by 50 %ex. a b+ student gettiing into cornell that is a legacy

I'm pretty sure it is restricted to only the parents and grandparents, although having another extended family member who is a Cornell alum doesn't hurt.

I don't think anyone knows to what extent being a legacy helps one's application. It probably depends on how much the alum donates to the school.

ok thanks so that could mean that a cousin that just graduated with a phd wouldnt really count because wouldnt really have donated anything

lol second cousin? maybe I'll put down my best friend's doctor or the physics teacher in the next town over..
