Just a quick question...if my Dad went to NYU School of Law, considered an extremely good law school, am I then considered a "legacy," or is that only if your parent attends undergraduate? Thanks for the clarification!

kiki, here's what the Admissions office says about legacy in the admissions process:

"It might help. If your application is otherwise competitive, the fact that you are the child of an alumnus or alumna of NYU may help influence the admissions decision.

However, having an NYU graduate in the family won't compensate for a mediocre academic record, and no one is admitted solely because they are related to an NYU alumni/ae."

Your dad is considered an alumnus of NYU if he graduated from NYU School of Law, just as he would be if he graduated from one of the undergrad colleges, so yes you would list that on your app.

Okay thanks alwaysamom, I was just wondering if a grad school alum would be considered a legacy. I appreciate your help!
