I have some questions about my parents’ legacies:
My mom went to Duke for her medical residency, does that count as legacy for undergrad?
My mom also went to Brown for med school, does that count as legacy for undergrad?
Also my dad went to Northwestern & Northwestern med school, will my dad’s legacy at med school alongside my dad’s under grad legacy count even more?
thanks!
The definition of legacy and how much of a bump (if any) will depend upon the college. There is no box on the application that says “Check here if you are legacy.” You fill out the biographical data for your parents, including their education, and each college will decide what it will do with that information. For the most part, I would file it under “It is what it is”
One thing about Brown is that children of alumni have access to a college counseling service, so you might want to ask them your question if Brown med school counts as legacy:

My guess on the others is that Duke residency will not count and that double legacy at Northwestern will not mean a double bump.
