How much does having legacies at Cornell count for? Both of my friend's parents went to Cornell, and she wants to go there as well.

I don’t think Cornell factors legacy too heavily. But it definitely helps; and, coupled with a strong application, could most likely guarantee admission.

Cornell is not like HYPS or Penn with its legacy students.

I think that if she thinks her app isnt very strong, but has legacy status, she is more apt to get a GT…thats what happened to me, and it seems like a fair amount of other GTers I’ve met said the same thing.

Defiantly not true. If your friend’s not an idiot and their parents have donated any significant amount of money over the years they should have no problems.
