I was wondering if anyone has any legacy stats/knows particular people who were admitted to brown as a legacy. I received an email that says last year they accepted 38% of legacies, but that number doesnt really help me if I dont know any of their stats.

please??? :)

I am a legacy who is applying to Brown right now. My uncle and dad went to Brown together.

They sent a packet in the mail to my dad a month ago thanking him for encouraging me to apply and the stats of legacies that get into Brown.

My essays for Brown were horrible and my stats aren’t the best so I am 99.999% sure that I will be rejected. Sorry I am not much help. Best of luck though rrraaayyy27! :)

Yeah, I got the same packet. Those statistics made me feel a little better haha. unfortunately my stats arent anything comparable to browns (32 ACT, 4.14 gpa), so idk what will happen.
thanks for the responce!

Hmm, I might be considered a new legacy. I have a brother who is a freshman at Brown this year. Don’t get me wrong, my application was strong, but considering I applied to Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, and MIT as well, and was denied to all but Brown, I can’t help but think my brothers being a student played a role.

We were there last week and I asked the legacy question. Abby the AO lady said today it is a tie breaker. IOW, if there are 2 kids and all else is equal between them, the legacy will be admitted.

But you have seent he legacy stats and they are way lower than they were only a few years ago.

Still, 38% does beat 9% so I guess you have to be cheered somewhat! Good luck to all!
