Yes, and alcohol, which is very legal, doesn’t make you stupid at all.

I just don’t think it’s reasonable or logical for the “worse” substance to be legal and the “bad” one illegal.

A lot of students are INVOLVED with pot. Why? Well, for one, it’s incredibly profitable to buy and sell the stuff! Because it’s illegal, it’s worth a fortune. It’s the drug that students (i’m a student, i don’t do pot…) use almost as commodity. Because it’s there, it’s smoked often. Now what if pot lost it’s black market? It’d lose it’s value to students to sell/buy and make money. Thus, there would be less pot in schools, and thus less abuse of it by students. Sure, something else will probably take it’s place, but the reason pot is so prevalent, is because it’s a really big deal in America.

The economy of pot is huge. Legalize it, America makes money, less students do pot. No other illegal drug is as prevalent as pot.

Also look at the medical side. My grandmother just recovered from cancer. Chemo made her feel horrible, and she had to endure a lot. Marijuana is well known to ease the side effects of chemo. Just saying.

I agree with some of the aforementioned points regarding its legalization.

We’ll find out in November.

I used to be against legalization

All of you guys need to understand and respect that there is understandable reasons for everyone’s opinions and there are good arguments on both sides. So stop saying “there’s absolutely no reason…” cause guess what- there probably is!

I think the legalizing pot crowd wins this argument though…

Just my .02

I remember in one of my classes we were debating on the legalization of pot and I was in the group that was against it (teacher made groups; we didn’t choose). It was actually pretty difficult to come up with legitimate reasons for it to be illegal.

I didn’t read all of this, but, in my town at least, marijuana is easier to get even though it’s illegal than alcohol for minors. So legalizing it and putting an age limit on it might actually make it less obtainable.

hahahaha; same happened with my ex

Like an above poster said, I do think making it legal cab remove drug dealers which can deter some crime. But that won’t fully help because there are more lucrative narcotics such as heroine.

Aren’t they about to legalize it in California?

I think if they do legalize it, they should impose some kind of “no smoking and driving laws” like they have for alchohol.

Don’t bake and brake!

Yeah. There should be handheld “potalyzers” police could use.

Over the limit, under arrest.

Apparantely marijuana is the #1 source of revenue for the Mexican drug cartels. Like I said above, legalizing marijuana will hurt the cartels. Of course they will probably move on to something else, but that’s a separate issue.

I say no. There is a certain population who will only try a drug if it is legal; I don’t think we’ve thought enough about how many people will be opened up to marijuana if it’s legalized. Just my uneducated opinion.

I’m all for banning ciggies as well.

OK legalize it! But where do you draw the line? What if people wan cocaine legalized? Or peyote? Or LSD?

^well they can’t. Since its a well known fact that coke and LSD are very harmful, and can cause death if over dosed.

Pure marijuana isn’t as addictive and harmful as heroine and cocaine. And that is where the line will be drawn.

Its funny how cities in California want to ban happy meals and sodas from vending machines to control what you eat because they’re “looking out” for your health, but they have no problem legalizing marijuana… which is even worse. Gotta love progressives.

^ Not sure it’s really “progressives” who are pro-marijuana, but yeah.
